Kidney stones are the hard masses of varying sizes, develop from crystals that separate from the urine in absence of crystal preventing susbstances. Stones can be calcium in combination with either oxalate or phosphate.
Stones can be removed using ultrasound without the need of surgery. Ultrasound are high frequency sound waves that can break down the stone into fine granules which can be taken out through suction. For doing this, first the nephroscope is inserted into kidney to visualise the stones, then hollow metal tube that can conduct ultrasonic energy into kidney is put through this nephroscope to break down the stones.
