Question

how anaphase of mitosis differ from anaphase I of meiosis

Open in App
Solution

Anaphase of mitosis and Anaphase I of meiosis are different as:

During mitosis, the sister chromatids are pulled apart by the spindle fibres in the anaphase, such that each of them act as a separate chromosome. So, the chromosome number is doubled during anaphase of mitosis.

During meiosis, the homologous chromosomes are pulled apart during anaphase I. The chromosome number is not doubled, but halved during this process.
