How are Dahlia plants cultivated?
Dahlia Plants are grown for their beautiful flowers. It is one of the lowest maintenance, highest production cut flowers and garden plants one can grow. It is planted in spring.
Growing Dahlia in a light, frost-free place with moist compost is the ideal method to grow them. They flower by the beginning of July. Dahlias grow well in a fertile soil, with moisture and good drainage. Placing dahlia tuber in a big hole and cover the base of the hole with manure and give it a good dousing with a full watering can and then plant the dahlia.
Dahlia cannot be grown in extremely hot and humid climates. Over watering can cause tubers to rot and hence Dahlias may need extra attention before or after rain.
