How are zinc , magnesium , iron are available in food although they are metals ?

These minerals are present in soil. From soil they are taken up by plants. So, they are present in plant products like green leafy vegetables, nuts, legumes, cereals, fruits, beans, etc. Animals get these minerals by consuming plant products. Human beings get these minerals through plant products as well as animal products like iron from liver, zinc from yoghurt.
