how can rusting be controlled for iron using other methods other than galvanizing

The rusting of iron can be prevented by just check the exposure of iron surface to atmospheric oxygen and moisture. The following ways are used to create a barrier between atmosphere and iron surface.

1)By painting the surface

2)By coating the surface with a thin film of oil or grease

.3)By electroplating iron with some non-corrosive metal such as nickel, chromium, copper, etc.
