Solution

Mushroom cannot synthesize its own food as it lacks chlorophyll. Mushroom obtains its nutrition from decaying matter because in decaying matter organic nutrients are found in abundance. Mushroom absorbs the required organic nutrients directly through the cell membrane from the decaying matter. This type of nutrtion is called saprotrophic nutrition.
