how can we seperate water, fat, protiens etc. from milk?
Fat can be removed from milk by centrifugation.Once the fat is removed, we get skim milk which is again centrifugated using an ultracentrifuge which results in pelleting of casein(protein) and a supernatant called whey. From the whey casein is separated by precipitation using an acid.
Proteins of milk can also be separated by a method called polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis which separates the milk by molecular mass.
Water can be separated by freezing milk below 0 degree celcius for minimum 24 hours.Since the freezing point of milk is less than water, two separate layers of freezed water and milk will be formed.
