The outbreak of the French Revolution and the spread of the ideas of nationalism and liberation from despotism,became a source of inspiration to the people resided in different cities of Europe.Jacobin clubs were set up by the educated middle class.

The French armies became prepared to attack on these activities and campaigns which became revolutionary.They marched into Holland, Switzerland, Belgium and Italy in 1790's.This led to the outbreak of revolutionary wars in these countries which helped in spreading the idea of nationalism abroad.
