How did print cultur led to growth of dissenting ideas
With the advent of print culture, people who did not agree with the government's policies and ideas could now criticise and also use this medium to propagate their ideas. The critics or dissenters could now write and publish their ideas. This got more people to think radically and question the government's working. This led to the development of many ideas like Socialism and Communism. Earlier reproducing manuscripts by scribes was very expensive and only the nobles and the rich could afford it. The development of printing technology resulted in the production of inexpensive books and thus, the number of readers increased exponentially. With the increase in number of readers, the number of writers also increased.
Also, with the innovations in print and cheaper reproduction of images, dissenters or critic writers could also spread their ideas and message to illiterate people. In this way, dissent writing and thinking increased fuelled from development in print technology.
