1) Indian textiles had to compete with British textiles in European and American markets and moreover, exporting textiles to England also became difficult as high duties were imposed on Indian textiles imported to Britain

2) By 19th century, English made cotton goods successfully threw Indian goods from traditional markets in Africa, America, Europe etc

3) Thousands of weavers in India were thrown out of employment out of which weavers of Bengal were worst hit

4) English and European companies stopped buying Indian goods and their trading agents no longer gave advances to weavers to procure their supplies

5) Thus, the development of cotton industries in Britain affected textile producers in India in many ways
