1) Khap panchayats function as association for caste based communities and it is prevalent in some parts of Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh
2) They have under their control 25 to 30 villages which strictly follow the rules framed by Khaps of their region
3) One of the main rule of Khap was that all boys and girls of the community are considered as brothers and sisters and hence inter caste marriages are not encouraged
4) Thus, due to the above features, Khap panchayats serve as a system of social administration and organisation in some parts of our country
