Question

how did the people and the britishers differ in their opinion of use of forest resources?

Solution

While the Britishers had it that by introducing a Forest law, they could demarcate valuable tracts for railway construction purposes (and thus deforested the major areas), which could further lead to expanding Trade and exports, the tribals' and the forest people's entire livelihood depended on the forests. The notion of private property so introduced by the Britishers starved them of the goods of the forests and their own rights. These laws effected their livelihood- they couldn't take wood from the forests (which had to be paid for), and also their cattle couldn't graze there.

So while for the Britishers, their efforts meant production and development, for the natives,

it brought forth severe issues and no means of survival.
