The censorship in relation to books, newspapers, plays was abolished. As per the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen, the freedom of speech and expression became a natural right for all citizens.
The source of mass information such as Newspapers, pamphlets, books and printed pictures were seen to be distributed in large numbers in the cities and towns of France from where they travelled rapidly into the villages as well.
Print media became an important means of communication where people could express their support and opposition to any event taking place in the country.
