Question

How do concentration of substrate affects the activity of an enzyme?

Open in App
Solution

The substrate concentration increases the rate of reaction and hence the activity of an enzyme. The concentration is directly proportional to the rate of reaction. But this is true until the enzyme reaches its saturation point. Once all the active sites in an enzyme are occupied or the saturation point is reached, increassing the concentration will have no impact.
