Question

how do sewer systems get blocked

Open in App
Solution

Sewage is the combination of water, suspended solids, chemicals and huge count of microorganisms that is necessary to treat before allowing flowing in the river or other water bodies. The system by which sewer or wastewater is circulated safely through the town or city and deposited in some water bodies after treatment is known as the sewer system. Every town or city or locality must have a well controlled sewer system. When some solid non biodegradable matters like polythene, or plastic bottles etc. come on the flow of this waste water, the sewer system may get blocked. These synthetic substances easily clog the openings of pipes or tunnels through which water passes. This results in blockage.
