How do the nucleic acids present in our chromosones give us a DNA?
The nucleic acids that are present inside our cell nucleus has three main parts – phosphate, sugar and organic bases. The pentose sugar (deoxyribose) that is present in nucleus attaches with phosphate group and organic bases like adenine guanine etc. and form a nucleotide. Several nucleotides attach with each other by forming bonds between hydroxyl groups of each nucleotide and forma poly nucleotide. The two such polynucleotide chains are attached with each other through hydrogen bonds between the contemporary base pairs to form a double helix structure. This is DNA. The single piece of coiled DNA with some proteins condenses to form a chromosome.
