Question

HOW DO THERMOACIDOPHILES OBTAIN THEIR FOOD

Open in App
Solution

Thermoacidophiles are chemosynthetic bacteria. They often live in hot sulphur springs where the temperature may be as high as 80C and pH as low as 2. They obtain energy for synthesis of food from oxidising sulphur. They oxidise sulphur to sulphuric acid under aerobic conditions.
