How does a Digital Thermometer work? Does it also consists of a Mercury Column inside it ? Does it provide more Accurate measure of Temperature of a Substance as compared to ordinary thermometers?
A digital thermometer is an electronic device that can measure temperature. It is done by bringing the thermometer in contact of the body whose temperature is to be measured. When the thermometer is brought in contact of a hot body, it starts gaining heat from the hot body. The thermometer receives heat until it comes at a temperature equal to the temperature of the hot body. The heat sensor within the digital thermometer now reads the temperature and displays it in its small screen.
Some of the advantages of digital thermometer are as follows:
1. The heat sensor of the digital thermometer is at the tip of the thermometer.
2. Digital thermometers are accurate and quick to use.
3. It is easy to read the temperature in digital thermometer compared to other thermometer, such as mercury thermometer.
4. Digital thermometers are made in such a way that they don’t break easily.
