how does reproduction in malarial parasite takes places?

Open in App
Solution

Two types of cycles operated in the life cycle of malaria parasite-Plasmodium: Asexual and sexual cycle. So both asexual and sexual types of reproduction take place in this protozoan. Asexual reproduction takes place in vertebrate host like mammals and sexual reproduction takes place inside the gut of mosquito (vector). Asexual reproduction takes place inside the liver through binary fission. Sexual reproduction inside the mosquito involves gametogenesis: formation of male and female gametes.
