Question

how does the acceleration due to gravity decreases as one goes inside the earth??

Open in App
Solution

The acceleration due to gravity of Earth would be maximum at its surface (radius R from center). If we move either way up or down it will decrease.

Now, the variation of g with depth (d) will be given as

g' = g(1-d/R)

where g' is the acceleration due to gravity at depth d.
