How does the atmosphere act as a blanket? The moon which is about the same distance from the sun that the earth is,but still there is no atmosphere on moon.

Atmosphere surrounds the earth and acts like a blanket because it retains atmospheric heat.

Moon doesn’t have enough gravitational force because of low mass to retain the gas molecules on her surface. So, there is no atmosphere on moon.
