how does the blood transport nutrients to other parts of the body and what are the media of transport of food and waste materials ?
Blood carries out the transportation of both -nutrients & waste materials in the body. After the digestion of food by the digestive glands, the end products pass through the intestinal mucosa into the blood or lymph thereby get absorbed in the blood. Along with the blood stream these absorbed substances finally reach tissues where they are utilized. This process is called assimilation.
