Question

how does the red blood cell work without a nucleus?

Open in App
Solution

The main function of red blood cell is to carry oxygen to various tissues, since it does not have mitochondria it cannot use oxygen to carry out its function, therefore it utilizes lactic acid for production of energy to carry oxygen to various tissues.

This implies that RBC does not require nucleus to carry out its function, also without DNA or RNA it cannot repair damages and does not have a long life.
