Root of the trees that are present near the river bank hold the soil strongly thus preventing soil erosion by slowing the flow of the river. These root prevent sediments runoff and check the flow of water. As faster water runs higher is the chance of flood. Moreover tree absorbs water and stores it. All these activities done by tress prevent flood.
