Question

how does youngs modulus change with rise in temperature?

Open in App
Solution

Young's modulus, E, can be calculated by dividing the tensile stress by the tensile strain in the elastic (initial, linear) portion of the stress-strain curve.

Y = F L /AΔL ie ratio of longitudinal stress to longitudinal strain

As we increase the temperature strain/elongation(ΔL) produced in the body increases too with temperature so in this way Y have inversely proportional variation with temperature.
