Any reproductive process that does not involve the formation or fusion of gametes is known as asexual reproduction. Plants reproduce asexually by many natural methods such as through bulbs, rhizome, stolons, buds, etc.
Asexual reproduction is important and advantageous in plants as it is a method of creating new individuals rapidly and in large quantities in a short period of time.
It is very important when plants of desired features have to be produced by method of cloning.
In some plants asexual reproduction is the method of bypassing the unfavourable conditions. During unfavourable conditions plant reproduce asexually.
