Evolution can be defined as a gradual process of development of organisms, which result in emergence of new species; while classification (taxonomy) is to group and categorize organisms. Organisms with similar characteristics are classified under one group.

Evolution tells us how closely the two organisms are related or how different they are on the basis of their evolutionary development, and taxonomist can use this information to classify organisms. Hence, both the areas (evolution and taxonomy) go together, supporting each other.
