The following steps are involved in making iron:

a. A blast furnace is charged with iron ore, charcoal and limestone.
b.The air blast, is blown into the blast furnace by powerful steam engines.
c The mixture is heated for the required period .
d. Liquid iron which collects at the bottom of the blast furnace, is then allowed to flow out.
e. As it cools, it forms into pig iron.
