Transpiration is the loss of water in the form of vapour from the exposed surfaces of the plants. Some benefits include:

1. Ascent of sap

2. Removal of excess water

3. Absorption and distribution of salts

4. Cooling effect

5. Better root upake of water and nutrients.

Translocation is the movement of material normally carbohydrates from the leaves to other regions of the plants.

1. Distribution of prepared food

2. Supply of organic material to non photosynthetic areas of the plant

3. Some sinks are developed for accumulation of food like fruits, modified roots etc.
