Lead (Pb) is a very toxic metal that is regarded as an extremely harmful pollutant. If lead concentration in drinking water exceeds 50 ppb (parts per billion), it is considered to be unfit for consumption. Lead can damage kidney, liver, reproductive system etc. It can also cause several disorders of the central and the peripheral nervous system.
