The heart is composed of three different types of cardiac tissues which allow it to function continuously.

They are:

• Myocardium- Make up the outer region of heart and has the ability to contract.
  
• Endocardium- The interior surface of the heart chambers that seals while filtering all the components entering the heart.

• Pericardium – Protects the heart by surrounds it and the ends of the blood vessels where they attach to the heart.
