Question

how much energy is converted to heat and atp in human body

Open in App
Solution

In our body, chemical energy in food is converted to ATP (chemical energy) and then converted to mechanical energy of muscle contraction. Some energy is lost as heat. Every molecule of glucose yields 30 molecules of ATP. Cells must continually use energy to do biological work. Every day, in a resting state, we hydrolyzes about 40 kg of ATP.
