Depending on the particle size solution can be classified in the following categories:
true solution ( size < 1nm)
suspension (size between 1-1000nm)
colloidal solution ( size> 1000nm)
Particles in the true solutions are invisible. Particles of the suspension are visible to the naked eye or under a microscope. In case of colloids scattering of light by the particles is observed under ultramicroscope. Therefore depending on the particles size scattering of the light affected.
