Solution

Vitamin D is produced when our bare skin is exposed to sunlight (ultraviolet B rays). Ultraviolet B from sunlight is absorbed by chemical (7-dehydrocholesterol) present in our skin and transforms it into pre-vitamin D3. Pre-vitamin D3 isomerizes to form vitamin D3 in the liver and finally then in the kidney to its biologically active form(cholecalciferol) .

There is no pigment present in our body in order to absorb light.
