Question

How to calculate OH- concentration in 0.02N HCl solution

Open in App
Solution

Given: Concentration of HCl = 0.02 N
To find: Concentration of hydroxide
Solve: As we know
pH = =log [H+]
pH = -log [0.02]
= 1.7
As we know
pH + pOH = 14
pOH = 14-pH
pOH= 14 – 1.7
=12.3
Now, pOH = -log [OH-]
12.3 = -log [OH-]
[OH-] = 5.01 x 10-13 M
So, concentration of hydroxide ions is 5.01 x 10-13 M
