How to identify acid salts, normal salts, basic salts, hydrated salts.
How are they formed
Acid salts
When an acidic group react with a salt their is a formation of the Acid salt. Thus to identify acidic salt one need to find the acidic group attached in given compound by blue litmus solution which changes to red when comes in contact.
Formation :
CH3COOH + NaOH → CH3COO- Na + + H2O
Normal salts
Common salt is nothing but sodium chloride i.e.NaCl which is neutral in nature. Thus you can identify it easy by its taste or chemical composition.
Formation :
Na+ + Cl- → NaCl
Basic salts
When an basic group react with a salt their is a formation of the basic salt. Thus to identify basic salt one need to find the basic group attached in given compound by red litmus solution which changes to blue when comes in contact with salt.
Formation :
HF + NaOH → NaF (salt) + H2O
Hydrated salts.
Gypsum( CaSO4.2H2O is a hydrated salt). Moisture is the best way to identify such salts.
Formation :
CaSO4 + 2H2O → CaSO4.2H2O
