A chemical equation is a symbol or form of representing a chemical reaction in which the reactants are kept on left hand side and products are kept on the right hand side and both are separated by an arrow mark →.
For ex: when , acetylene burns in oxygen it yields, carbon dioxide and water. The reaction may be represented in a chemical equation as;

Acetylene + Oxygen -> Carbon dioxide + Water
