Question

how will u justify that rusting is a chemical change?

Open in App
Solution

When a metal rusts it comes in contact with atmospheric oxygen which converts the metal to metal oxide. The chemical composition of the metal changes. Also, once rusting occurs the metal cannot be regenerated from its oxide and is a irreversible process. These prove that rusting is a chemical process.
