Question

how will you find av. velocity if acceleration (a)is uniform (b)is non-uniform.

Open in App
Solution

(a) If acceleration is uniform, then the average velocity is given by the arithmetic mean of the initial velocity and final velocity for a given period of time.
Average velocity=u+v/2
(b) If acceleration is non-uniform, then average velocity is not equal to the average of the initial and final velocities. The average velocity must be calculated from:
Average velocity=x(t)-x(0)twhere,x(t)=Final position x(0)=Initial positiont=Time taken
