How would you experimentally distinguish b/w an alcohol and carboxylic acid?

Alcohol is least acidic than carboxylic acid therefore do not react with sodium bicarbonate while carboxylic acid react to gives CO2 gas.

CH3COOH + NaHCO3 →CH3COONa + H2O + CO2
