Solution

Total number of coins =160

Total value of coins = Rs 300

Number of Rs 5 coins= x

Number of Rs 2 coins= 3x

Number of Re 1 coins=160 – ( x + 3x)

Value of Rs.5 cois = 5x

Value of Rs.2 coins= 2(3x)

Value of Re.1 coins= 160 – (3x + x)

So,

5x + [ 2( 3x ) ] + 160 – (3x+x) =300

5x + 6x + 160 – 4 x= 300

11x + 160 – 4x = 300

11x – 4x =300-160

7x =140

x = 140/7

x =20

Number of Rs.5 coins = x = 20

Number of Rs. 2 coins =3x

=3 × 20

=60

Number of Re.1 coins=160 – (3x+x)

=160 – 4x

=160 – 80

=80
