I know that earphones have magnets in them but how do these help in formulating different types of sound?
Thanks
Hi,
A headphone speaker consists of a permanent magnet, an electromagnet wound around the core of the permanent magnet. The electromagnet is glued to a movable thin plastic sheet that can vibrate to produce sound. An electric signal carrying a particular form of sound signal passes through the electromagnet and vibrates it. The vibrating electromagnet vibrates the plastic sheet along with it. The plastic sheet vibrating in the air produces the sound. Thus the sound that a mike picked up or that was recorded in a media file is replicated back in the air.
