Solution

1. No freedom was curtailed in 1971, this time the Government of India indeed acted in a democratic manner, as the minority government that was the result of the split between the Congress ,decided to go for people's verdict , allowing people to exercise their franchise.

2. In the year 1975 emergency which was imposed due to grave internal crisis people's freedom was curtailed.
During emergency, federal powers were suspended, citizens fundamental rights were curtailed like freedom of speech and expression, to assemble, citizens were not allowed to hold and marches, processions, press censorship was imposed and government made use of preventive detention. 1977, elections proved to be a huge blow for the Congress.
Because, of the grave atrocities committed by the regime during emergency, like torture, cases of custodial death, arbitrary arrests, forced relocation of poor people, forced sterilisations led to the disillusionment of the common people who voted against the congress.Congress's share of popular vote fell largely.People found detached with the Congress and looked for a political alternative with Janta Party coming to power in 1977.
