Question

If A=3i+4j and B=7i+24j then find the vector having the same magnitude as B and same direction as A.

Open in App
Solution

The vector must be parallel to A and having magnitude equal to B will be
magnitude of B x UNIT VECTOR OF A
the magnitude of A=32+42 =9+16 =25 =5hence unit vector of A =AA=3i + 4j5now magnitude of B = 72+242 =625 =25hence 25 × unit vector of A 25×3i + 4j5 =5(3i + 4j).
