Question

if a conductor of resistance 5 ohm is connected dametrcally n a crcuit. what is the change of resistance?

Open in App
Solution

As per question, a conductor having resistance 5 ohm is connected diametrically, that is resistance of the conductor get divided into two semicircles and on bending they are assumed to be connected in parallel. Thus, the net change in the resistance or the equivalent resistance of the circuit becomes,
1Req=1R1+1R2
On substituting the values we get,
1Req=12.5 Ω+12.5 Ω1Req=22.5 Ω
Req=
2.5 /2
Req=1.25 Ω
Thus, the net change in the resistance will be Req =1.25 Ω
