If a spring is cut into two identical pieces what change occur for the spring constant ?

If the spring is cut into two half pieces and the same amount of force act on half the spring then,

F= -kx or k= -f/x

so now if the x is halved the k is going to be doubled. Or we can say it depends inversely on the length.
