if a thermometer reads freezing point of water as 20 degree celcius and boiling point as 150degree celcius , how much thermometer read when the actual temperature is 60 degree celcius?
Let,
P = Ax + B
When x = 0 oC, P = 20 oC
=> 20 = 0 + B
=> B = 20
When x = 100 oC, P = 150 oC
=> 150 = 100A + 20
=> A = 1.3
Now, when x = 60 oC,
P = Ax + B
=> P = (1.3)(60) + 20
=> P = 98 oC
