if algae are said to prepare their own food, then how does rhodophyta and other non-green algae do it?

Algae make their own food via photosynthesis, all algae contain chlorophyll. The green pigments (chlorophyll) of red and brown algae get masked by other pigments that provide them red or brown colour.
