Question

If an uncharged body is charged by the process of induction using a charged body then the nature of charges acquired by uncharged body will be of.

Open in App
Solution

The charged body (A), when brought closer to the uncharged body (B) will attract the opposite charges in B towards itself. These opposite charges will get collected towards the end closest to the charged body A and the other type of charges in B will move towards the opposite side of B.

These other charges (opposite end at B) can be be released to the ground by earthing, leaving the opposite charges on the B, in majority. These opposite charges of course have opposite polarity to the charge on A.

So, if charge on A was positive, the charge induced ion B will be negative and vice versa.
