Question

if HCl is strong acid then y is it sulphuric acid called as kings of acid

Open in App
Solution

HCl is more strong than sulphuric acid but Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is called ‘King of Chemicals’ and ‘king of acids’ due to its high production and wide usage around the world as no other acids are produced and used to this extent and even its production is also cheap.

H2So4 is the most powerful acid among common chemical acids. Sulphuric acid is manufactured in larger quantities than any other acid. Almost every manufactured item in the modern world comes into contact with H2SO4 at some or the other stage.

It dissolves anything including its own compounds.

Very few other acids can dissolve their own compounds.

H2So4 is also transformable i.e. it can be either diluted to the maximum extent as well as made concentrated to the maximum extent possible.

Some of the advantages of H2SO4 are listed below:

It is most frequently used in chemical labs.

It is used to clean up the rust from iron and steel, which is further used for manufacturing of vehicles and household appliances.

It is used for production of lead-acid batteries.

It is used for production of fertilizers.

It is used for manufacturing phosphate fertilizers.

It is used in petroleum refining.

It is used for production of paper.

It is used for production of detergents. etc...

Due to all these mentioned qualities sulphuric acid is called king of acids.
